Cavaliers vs. Warriors Finals Rematch? Vegas Thinks So

Once again, the Cleveland Cavaliers (19-6) and Golden State Warriors (24-4) rank atop the NBA standings for the 2016-17 season. According to oddsmakers in Las Vegas, it is believed that the Cavaliers and Warriors will once again meet in the NBA Finals.

The two teams—led by some of the most prolific players across the league—have met in the Finals for two straight seasons, and if come face-to-face again, they will be the first two teams in NBA history to square off at the highest stage three seasons in a row.

Don’t sleep on teams backing Cleveland and Golden State, though. The San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers, Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics, and Houston Rockets are nipping at the two teams’ heels making an early statement that they’re all in for a title.

The 2017 NBA Championship odds as of 12/19/16 (according to Westgate Las Vegas Superbook):

Golden State Warriors – 4-5

Cleveland Cavaliers – 9-5

San Antonio Spurs – 5-1

Los Angeles Clippers – 14-1

Toronto Raptors – 25-1

Houston Rockets – 30-1

Boston Celtics – 30-1

Oklahoma City Thunder – 60-1

Utah Jazz – 80-1

Memphis Grizzlies – 100-1

Charlotte Hornets – 100-1

Chicago Bulls – 200-1

Atlanta Hawks – 200-1

Portland Trail Blazers – 200-1

Washington Wizards – 200-1

Indiana Pacers – 200-1

Milwaukee Bucks – 200-1

Detroit Pistons – 200-1

New York Knicks – 200-1

Denver Nuggets – 500-1

Miami Heat – 1000-1

Minnesota Timberwolves – 1000-1

New Orleans Pelicans – 1000-1

Los Angeles Lakers – 1000-1

Sacramento Kings – 1000-1

Orlando Magic – 1000-1

Brooklyn Nets – 5000-1

Phoenix Suns – 5000-1

Philadelphia 76ers – 5000-1

Dallas Mavericks – 5000-1

Teams in the league who have legitimate chances to make a championship run have 30-1 odds or better. 60-1 to 200-1 odds are a number of teams that will likely reach the playoffs in their respective conference but will miss out on a title. Below that mark have little-to-no chance of conquering a title in 2017. The 2016-17 season has been a rollercoaster ride for some franchises so far; some have lived up to the hype while others have fallen to the bottom of the standings.
