BREAKING: Lamar Odom Voluntarily Checks Himself Into Rehab

Former Los Angeles Lakers two-time champion Lamar Odom has reportedly checked himself into a rehab facility in the San Diego, California area, according to Sierra Marquina of US Weekly. The source says Odom “did it for his kids” and so he doesn’t have to re-live the almost tragic event that occurred in 2015.

On October 13, 2015, Odom was hospitalized and placed into an induced coma for more than two weeks after he was found unconscious at a legal brothel in Nevada. Odom also suffered kidney failure and several strokes during the incident.

Odom, who physically recovered well, made a few major public appearances since, including attending former Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant’s final NBA game on April 13, 2015 and Kanye West’s listening party at Madison Square Garden in February.

Odom will remain in rehab for 30 days as a precautionary matter, according to the source.

The former No. 4 overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft last played in the league for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2012-13 season. Odom is a 14-year veteran, one-time Sixth Man of the Year winner and two-time champion.
