Ben Simmons Is Reportedly Upset That Joel Embiid Blamed Him For Last Year’s Playoff Loss Against The Atlanta Hawks

Ben Simmons has been taking a lot of heat since the team’s embarrassing exit in last year’s playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks. The three-time All-Star specifically failed to deliver, finishing the series with only 9.9 points per game to go along with a dreadful 33.3% free-throw shooting.

Simmons not only received criticism from fans and analysts, but he also received some unwelcome comments from the people within the team, specifically Sixers head coach Doc Rivers and All-Star big man Joel Embiid.

Embiid has shared his thoughts about his teammate several times now, but his most notable comment came shortly after their Game 7 loss against the Hawks.

“I don’t know how to say it – but I thought the turning point was we had an open shot, we missed and we made one free throw,” Embiid said.

Simmons is yet to suit up for the Sixers this season and has made it clear that he no longer wants to stay with the team in the long-run. As the dilemma continues, a recent report revealed that the 25-year old point guard is still upset that co-star Joel Embiid blamed him for last year’s playoff loss.

“According to sources close to Simmons, he’s upset that Embiid seemed to blame him for last season’s playoff loss, when Simmons did not blame Embiid for Embiid’s poor showing in the playoffs against the Toronto Raptors in 2019.”
