Anthony Davis On Charles Barkley’s ‘Street Clothes’ Label: “People Say Stuff For Ratings”

Injuries are a natural part of basketball, but some players just seem to catch more injuries than others. This is the case for Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis. 

Davis is a force to reckon with when healthy. But considering his injury history, there’s always that fear that he might get hurt down the line every time he gets into the basketball court. 

Davis has never ever played an NBA season without missing some time due to injuries. In fact, last season, the 29-year old was limited to 40 games due to an MCL sprain in December and foot sprain in February.

As one of the most injury-prone players in the NBA, Davis has earned the nickname of “Street Clothes” which was created by NBA Hall of Famer and TNT analyst Charles Barkley. 

Barkley and a number of fans have been calling him that label for quite a time now. Though Davis is yet to shed the nickname, the Lakers star suggested that he doesn’t really pay attention to Barkley’s criticism.

Per the LA Times:

“I don’t care what he says,” Davis said. “People say stuff for ratings. Like, they got to push their show, push their blog, push their podcast, whatever it is. So, people got to say something to bring in viewers. It is what it is. I go out there and play basketball and let them do their job. My job is to hoop. Their job is to talk about me.”
