Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić has taken legal action seeking to have his two daughters brought from Slovenia to the United States as an ongoing custody dispute with his former fiancée continues.
According to The Athletic, Dončić filed a petition in Slovenia under international rules that govern access to children across national borders. The filing itself is not public under Slovenian law, and the source who described the matter spoke anonymously because of the sensitivity of the case.
Dončić’s daughters, Gabriela and Olivia, are currently living in Slovenia with their mother, Anamaria Goltes. Dončić returned to the United States ahead of Lakers training camp after spending the offseason in Slovenia and trying to resolve the situation privately.
“Nothing is more important to me than my daughters,” Dončić said in a statement to The Athletic. “I will do whatever it takes to make sure they have both parents present in their lives.”
The petition is reportedly being pursued through a Hague Convention process, which can be used to address international disputes involving parental access and custody rights.
Goltes previously filed for child support and legal fees in California before later seeking to dismiss that petition while the two sides worked toward an agreement. According to reports, the custody situation remained unresolved when Dončić returned to Los Angeles for the upcoming NBA season.
Dončić also did not play internationally for Slovenia this summer, with the family situation cited as a factor. He had reportedly hoped for progress by late September, but no agreement was reached before he returned to the United States.
