The Oklahoma City Thunder are still doing Thunder things.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Oklahoma City is finalizing a trade that will send guard Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for two second-round picks: Atlanta’s 2030 second-rounder and the least favorable of the Hawks/Lakers second-rounders in 2032.

For Atlanta, this is the kind of move that makes sense without needing fireworks. Wiggins is a useful, reliable wing who has spent his entire career in Oklahoma City’s development system after being selected in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft. He averaged 9.4 points on 43.1 percent shooting last season and is a career 38 percent three-point shooter, giving the Hawks another rotation option with playoff experience.
For Oklahoma City, the move is classic roster math. The Thunder are deep, young, expensive and loaded with players who deserve minutes. Wiggins can play, but good teams eventually run out of rotation spots, and accumulate luxury tax. Entering the offseason, Oklahoma City had a projected tax penalty of $213M. This trade reduces that number to $152M.

The Thunder enter the Tuesday Draft with two picks in the top-17 (no. 12 and 17). https://t.co/Oucm1QefBM
