Jeff Teague Thinks Kon Knueppel Is Better Than Austin Reaves, Cooper Flagg

Every year, there’s that one rookie who quietly outperforms the script and forces his way into the Rookie of the Year conversation. This season, that guy might be Kon Knueppel.

It’s not like Knueppel came out of nowhere. He went fourth overall to the Charlotte Hornets, and there was real optimism about his game translating. But this version? This level of production? That’s a different conversation.

He’s putting up 19.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per night while shooting an efficient 48.9% from the field, 43.8% from three, and 86.3% at the line. Even optimistic projections didn’t quite go here.

And as the numbers keep stacking, so does the attention. Former NBA point guard Jeff Teague is one of the louder voices buying in. He’s impressed enough with the Hornets rookie to say he’d take Knueppel over Austin Reaves and Cooper Flagg right now as the best White American player in the league.

“Kon Knueppel is arguably the best White American Basketball player in the league. I would take him over Austin Reaves. Cooper Flagg is good but he’s not like this.”
