Demajeo Wiggins escaped what could have been a far more serious incident after a frightening moment in Croatia, when the basket support gave way shortly after he finished a dunk during KK Split’s league game against Kvarner. The incident happened late in the first half in Rijeka, with the structure tipping down onto the American big man before players rushed over to help lift it back up.
The most important detail is that Wiggins appeared to avoid major injury. According to reports, the former Bowling Green standout was able to continue after the stoppage, and the game resumed once the basket was repaired. That turned a potentially horrific scene into one of relief, even if the images themselves remained unsettling.

The play itself was routine before everything changed. Wiggins rose for a two-handed finish, but instead of the usual brief shake of the rim, the entire structure began to tilt. Because the basket appeared to fall slowly rather than crashing straight down, the outcome was less severe than it might have been in a packed arena or with a more violent collapse.
