Monday night in Washington brought a new kind of highlight for the Reese family, one that had nothing to do with a box score and everything to do with arrival.
Julian Reese, the former Maryland standout and younger brother of WNBA star Angel Reese, made his NBA debut as a starter for the Washington Wizards in their game against the Houston Rockets.
Reese was pressed into the starting lineup because of Washington’s frontcourt absences, and he logged meaningful minutes right away in a 123–118 loss to Houston, a game that also featured a lengthy third-quarter stoppage and multiple ejections.
For Angel Reese, the moment landed as a family achievement. Reporting around the debut noted her pride in seeing her brother reach a stage he’s worked toward for years; an NBA floor, an opening tip, his name in the starting five.

It’s early, and the NBA is unforgiving, but starts like that, literally and figuratively, matter. For the Wizards, it was a next-man-up night in a long season. For the Reese family, it was a milestone you don’t forget.
