Portland Trail Blazers forward Deni Avdija has quickly become one of those unexpected names turning heads around the league this season. And the reason is obvious. Avdija is posting superstar numbers, averaging 26.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game while shooting 47.1% from the field.
He has found a way to weaponize his skill set and become a more complete version of himself than ever. More importantly, he is doing this while helping the Portland Trail Blazers push into the ninth seed in a stacked Western Conference.
His place in the NBA was kind of under the radar for a while, and now he has rocketed up the ladder. All of a sudden, you start seeing how Deni actually compares with some of the league’s best all-around players.
More people are catching on, and former NBA guard Jeff Teague is one of them. He says he sees some Luka Doncic in him and wonders how the Washington Wizards did not see it coming.
“Come on bro, he looks like Luka. He’s really like that.”
