Nick Young Says Anthony Edwards Is The Face Of The NBA

The NBA isn’t short on superstars. From Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, Anthony Edwards, and Victor Wembanyama. Pick your own guy and there’s a case. But with so many valid candidates, the league faces an unavoidable question, who is the face of the NBA?

This used to be easy. LeBron James occupied that space for a long time. He won multiple championships and MVPs, had worldwide influence, topped jersey sales, and stayed relevant through unmatched longevity. But with him nearing retirement and no longer viewed as a top-five player, someone else has to take the mantle.

If you ask former NBA journeyman Nick Young, the answer is already clear. He believes that title belongs to Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards. Edwards hasn’t won a championship or an MVP yet, but in Young’s view, he’s got everything kids gravitate toward both on the court and off it.

“He has everything the kids love on the court and off the court,” Young said. “He got everything on the court. He can dribble, handle, pump fake, shoot threes, midrange, dunk on you, talk trash. Off the court, you know what he does.”
