Both Anthony Davis and Trae Young left their games on Wednesday with injuries that have fans and franchises holding their breath. Both players exited early, and while neither injury has been confirmed as long-term yet, the circumstances surrounding each have sparked concern.
Dallas Mavericks big man Anthony Davis left the game against the Indiana Pacers in the second quarter after appearing to tweak his lower left leg. The team later announced he was dealing with “left lower leg soreness” and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Davis had been listed as probable before the game due to bilateral Achilles tendinopathy, a chronic condition that has plagued him in the past. On the broadcast, he was seen grabbing at his lower leg before limping off the court. Given Davis’s injury history, particularly with his Achilles and foot, the Mavericks are expected to proceed with caution.
The 32-year-old had been averaging 25 points and nearly 12 rebounds per game this season, anchoring a Mavericks team still adjusting to its new core following the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Dončić to the Lakers.
In Brooklyn, Atlanta Hawks star guard Trae Young suffered a right knee sprain just minutes into the game against the Nets. The injury occurred when teammate Mouhamed Gueye fell into Young’s leg during a defensive rotation. Young immediately grabbed at his knee and was seen in visible discomfort before heading to the locker room.

He was ruled out for the remainder of the game after logging just seven minutes and scoring six points. The Hawks now face the possibility of being without their franchise point guard for an extended stretch.
Young’s injury is particularly concerning given the Hawks’ recent struggles and the weight he carries as their offensive engine.
Neither team has released a definitive timeline for their stars’ returns, but both are expected to undergo further evaluation today. For Davis, the focus will be on managing his Achilles condition and ensuring no structural damage. For Young, imaging on the knee will determine whether the sprain is mild or more severe.
