Celtics Coaches Dominate Celtics Media In Lopsided 57–4 Pickup Game Blowout

In what was meant to be a lighthearted preseason bonding moment, the Boston Celtics coaching staff turned a friendly pickup game into a full-blown clinic, steamrolling the Celtics media team with a jaw-dropping 57–4 victory.

The scrimmage, held at the Auerbach Center, pitted Celtics coaches including Joe Mazzulla, Charles Lee, Sam Cassell, and Tony Dobbins against a group of beat writers, broadcasters, and digital content creators. What followed was a masterclass in basketball fundamentals, defensive intensity, and, frankly, merciless competitiveness.

From the opening tip, it was clear the coaches weren’t just there for cardio. Sam Cassell, a former NBA champion, reportedly hit multiple deep threes and orchestrated the offense with precision. Charles Lee, known for his player development acumen, showcased his own athleticism with fast-break finishes and lockdown defense. Tony Dobbins, a former pro himself, anchored the paint and made sure the media team never got comfortable.

The media squad, on the other hand, struggled to find rhythm, or the rim. Their lone basket came midway through the second half, prompting sarcastic cheers from both benches. Turnovers, airballs, and missed layups plagued the group, who later admitted they were “just trying to survive.”

Postgame reactions were filled with laughter and humility. “We knew they were going to be good,” said one media member, “but we didn’t know they were going to be NBA good.” Assistant coach Matt Reynolds joked, “We might need to start a coaches league. We’ve got depth.”
