Kevin Love has never been one to take himself too seriously and his latest social media response proves it once again.
After being traded from the Miami Heat to the Utah Jazz in a three-team deal that also involved the Los Angeles Clippers, the five-time All-Star took to X with a perfectly dry quip:
“Never thought I’d be a math problem. Welcome to the NBA”.
Never thought I’d be a math problem. Welcome to the NBA.

The comment, which quickly went viral, was a nod to the salary cap gymnastics that made the trade possible. Love’s $4.1 million expiring contract was a key piece in balancing the books, allowing Miami to absorb Norman Powell’s $20 million deal while sending John Collins to the Clippers and Kyle Anderson alongside Love to Utah. In other words, Love wasn’t just a player in the deal, he was the equation.
Love’s humor didn’t stop there. He also posted a clip from Joe Dirt featuring David Spade and Kid Rock, further leaning into the absurdity of his NBA journey. It’s the kind of levity that’s become a trademark of Love’s social media presence, equal parts self-deprecating and endearing.

At 36, Love is entering his 18th NBA season. Though his role has diminished in recent years, he averaged just 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 23 games for Miami last season, his leadership and locker room presence remain valuable assets. Whether he suits up for the Jazz or becomes a buyout candidate for a contender, one thing’s for sure: Kevin Love is still winning the internet.
