Warriors GM Bob Myers Reveals DeMarcus Cousins Asked Him Why He’s Not In The NBA Right Now

It’s gotten pretty quiet around DeMarcus Cousins before news broke that he will likely join Dwight Howard to play in Taiwan. The forgotten NBA superstar superstar wasn’t able to find a new NBA team for this current season and decided to take his talents abroad.

Before going to Taiwan however, Cousins called Warriors GM Bob Myers to find out why he currently isn’t in the NBA. Myers, who revealed he’s always liked Boogie, revealed a hard truth.

Per NBC Sports:

“DeMarcus called me a month ago and he said, ‘Why am I not in the NBA?’ ” Myers told Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on the “All The Smoke” podcast earlier this week. “And I said, ‘You want that answer? … Because people are afraid of how you’re going to act.’ And he’s like ‘Why?’ And I said, ‘Well whatever the reason is, it’s here now.’

“And I like DeMarcus. You guys may know him. He’s just, I can’t blame him for him because of all he’s been through.”

“I said here’s the issue, you have to act better,” Myers continued. “To get back, you can’t just be average. You have to convince people. And that’s not really fair, but that’s just what it is.”

There haven’t been many players as unlucky as the four-time All-Star in these past few years. Cousins has suffered a torn quad, a torn achilies and a torn ACL, all within 20 months. These three injuries, that are considered among the worst in all of sports, have cost him his Hall-of-Fame career, to an extent that he now is out of the league.
