2026 NBA Summer League Breaks Records

The NBA’s future has rarely attracted a crowd quite like this.

More than 156,000 fans attended the 2026 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, setting a new event record and surpassing the previous high from 2018 by 12 percent. The tournament also generated the highest merchandise sales in Summer League history, proving that fans were not only filling the arenas – they were opening their wallets as well.

Interest carried over to television. The Golden State Warriors’ championship-game victory over the Memphis Grizzlies averaged 676,000 viewers on ESPN, making it the most-watched Summer League title game since 2017. That audience represented a 61 percent increase from the previous year’s championship.

Across ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU, the Las Vegas event averaged 292,000 viewers, an increase of 15 percent year over year and the networks’ strongest overall Summer League performance since 2023.

Summer League was once viewed primarily as a scouting showcase for rookies, fringe roster candidates and basketball diehards. It has now developed into a genuine NBA attraction, complete with packed buildings, national television audiences and serious merchandise demand.

Not every player in Las Vegas will become a star. But in 2026, Summer League itself certainly looked like one.
