Kevin Hart has built an entire career out of laughing at himself. The height jokes, the chaos, the exaggerated panic, the perfectly timed outrage… all of it is part of the act. But apparently, even Kevin Hart has a line.
That line is Shaquille O’Neal picking him up like lost luggage.
During an appearance on The Big Podcast with Shaq, Hart explained why he once stopped hanging around O’Neal in public. According to Hart, Shaq had a habit of physically lifting him up in front of people, including Hart’s own kids, and the comedian absolutely hated the helplessness of it.
“There’s nothing worse than somebody picking you up, but you can’t do s**t about it,” Hart said.
O’Neal, laughing along, confirmed that Hart once stopped talking to him for six months after one particularly embarrassing improv moment.
Kevin Hart tells Shaq that he stopped hanging out with him because he kept MANHANDLING & embarrassing him in front of his kids 😭💀👀
He also tells the story of the time he almost got into a fight with Shaq after he went off script and started dry-h*mping him during the viral… pic.twitter.com/3CDMOtyu2k

That is the beautiful absurdity of Shaq. He is one of the most dominant players in NBA history, a four-time champion, a Hall of Famer, and also the kind of friend who can turn a grown man’s dignity into a prop comedy routine by simply deciding gravity no longer applies.
Hart said the issue was not just being picked up. It was being picked up while everyone around them laughed as if it were part of the plan. In Hart’s telling, the moment happened during a skit, but Shaq took the improvisation a little too far. Hart was trying to perform. Shaq was apparently trying to remind everyone that he is 7-foot-1 and friendship has no weight class.
