Patrick Beverley Says LeBron James Could Play Until 47 If He Chooses

LeBron James keeps stretching the idea of what aging is supposed to look like. At 41, he’s still producing at an All-Star level. The latest reminder came in a triple-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists against the Washington Wizards.

There’s something almost routine about asking when a player this age will step away. Yet watching LeBron still perform like this, still carry himself like an All-Star, makes that question feel premature. With him, you can’t help but wonder how much longer this can go.

Patrick Beverley has thought about it, and it’s hard not to be in awe. LeBron James hasn’t even dropped below 20 points per game at 41, even as a third option. The decline is there, but it’s slow enough that Beverley wonders if this could stretch to 47 if he wants.

“I honestly believe he could play until 45 years old. And when I say 45, I mean at a high level. He’s averaging 20 points per game—how do you even say 45? I think that’s a discredit to him. The way he takes care of his body… 50 sounds crazy, but 46 or 47 if he wants to.”
