After the Lakers’ 120-101 win over the Washington Wizards on Monday, Rui Hachimura hilariously admitted that seeing Anthony Davis on the Wizards’ bench caught him off guard in a way that only this league can.
“I was looking at the bench, and then I saw AD, and I was shocked. I was like, wait. I totally forgot about it.”

— Rui Hachimura forgot Anthony Davis was traded to the Wizards. 🤣

The line was funny, but it also said something real about how disorienting the NBA can become once blockbuster movement starts to feel almost routine.
The backdrop matters. Davis, once a central figure in the Lakers’ championship core, and a famous part of the Luka Dončić, trade, was acquired by Washington in a February trade. However, he has been shut down for the season and hasn’t appeared in a game for his new team, yet.
In the game, the Lakers handled Washington 120-101 without Luka Dončić, who was out serving a one-game suspension after his 16th technical foul, while LeBron James posted a triple-double and Los Angeles pulled away after a sloppy start.
