Steve Kerr Sees Stephen Curry Moving Closer To Return, Even If The Exact Date Remains Unclear

Steve Kerr offered a cautiously optimistic update on Stephen Curry’s recovery, making clear that the Warriors still expect their star guard back this season even if the timeline remains fluid. Curry has not played since January 30 and was officially ruled out for at least 10 more days earlier this week because of right knee patella-femoral pain syndrome and a bone bruise, with the team planning to re-evaluate him on March 21.

Kerr’s latest comments captured both the hope and the uncertainty surrounding Curry’s rehab. As he put it,

“We expect him back. Hes trending in the right direction… I think he’ll be back for sure I just don’t know if it’ll be a week or two its a day to day process.”

That quote fits with recent reporting around the Warriors, which has emphasized that Curry is progressing through individual on-court work but has not yet fully returned to team activities.

For Golden State, the timing matters. The Warriors now are 5-13 during Curry’s recent absence, having lost five straight gamesm while slipping in the Western Conference standings.

The most important takeaway from Kerr’s update is that this does not sound like a shutdown scenario. It sounds like a star player working through a careful, controlled recovery, with the Warriors resisting the urge to rush the process.
