The Los Angeles Clippers appear to have found a valuable addition in Bennedict Mathurin following the trade that sent big man Ivica Zubac to Indiana Pacers.
Since arriving in Los Angeles, Mathurin has elevated his production to 19.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 43% from the field. His run has included a 38-point performance against the Denver Nuggets and a recent 23-point outing on 8 of 11 shooting against his former team.
Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle praised Mathurin afterward and even drew a comparison to Kawhi Leonard.
“He’s an NBA scorer. How many times do I need to say it? He came out of the womb with 20 points. That’s a compliment. That’s how easily he scores. They’ve got another Kawhi Leonard type scorer. It’s a great 1-2 punch for them.”
