Michael Jordan Recalls A 179-MPH Motorcycle Run In Valencia: “Scared Sh*tless”

Michael Jordan has spent most of his public life being portrayed as fearless, but he recently revisited one moment where even he sounded genuinely shaken: riding a motorcycle at 179 mph during a trip in Valencia, Spain.

In a clip resurfaced and shared from ESPN Originals content, Jordan describes the experience in blunt terms.

“I rode in Valencia,” he says, adding that he hit “like 179 on the straightaway.” Asked what that felt like, Jordan’s answer is as unfiltered as it gets: he says he was “scared,” and notes he “never got out of third gear.”

The moment traces back to Jordan’s long-standing interest in motorsports and motorcycles, including appearances around major racing events in Spain in the mid-2000s.

What makes the quote stick isn’t just the number. It’s the rare glimpse of Jordan speaking like a regular person confronted with uncommon speed, less myth, more adrenaline, and a reminder that there are still a few experiences that can make even the most iconic competitor sound human.
