Joel Embiid may not be in the spotlight as much lately, but make no mistake, when he’s healthy, he still looks like the second-best center in the NBA and an MVP-caliber player capable of doing much more for his team.
The Philadelphia 76ers big man has started to find his groove lately, averaging 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting 49.4% from the field. But shin soreness interrupted that momentum, keeping him out of the matchup vs. the Atlanta Hawks.
It keeps circling back to the same issue. Embiid hasn’t been able to stay healthy long enough to maximize his window. It’s why he recently admitted he’d trade his lone MVP award if if it meant staying healthy for a single postseason run, believing he can lead the Sixers to a title.
“I would trade my MVP for one healthy postseason run because I think that if I’m healthy, I’m dominant enough that I would carry us to win a championship.”
