Monday night’s game between the Charlotte Hornets and the Detroit Pistons already looked like a competitive showdown. Then it took a hard left turn when a chaotic third quarter completely changed the atmosphere and led to four players getting ejected.
Charlotte’s Moussa Diabate and Miles Bridges got tossed, and Detroit answered with ejections of Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart. By the time the dust settled, the Pistons walked away with the win and ended the Hornets’ nine-game streak.
A little chaos, a little drama, and suddenly the game felt way more important than it probably should have. Former NBA guard Jeff Teague feels the same way and sees this as a starting point for the Hornets to climb from the 10th seed and face the first-seeded Pistons team in the playoffs.
“You know what I like about this? It’s really an opportunity for them to play each other in the playoffs now. The 1 vs. 8 matchup. It might be a good battle.”
