There are just players who make things look normal even when they’re not. Luka Doncic is one of those guys. He’s the type who drops a 35-point triple-double and everyone shrugs like he’s always supposed to do it.
This season, Doncic is leading the league in scoring with 32.8 points per game on 47.3% shooting from the field. He’s doing that while also dishing out 8.6 assists and grabbing 7.8 rebounds per game. Those are MVP-level numbers by any standard.
Even then, the MVP buzz around Doncic feels weirdly quiet. Maybe it’s because the Los Angeles Lakers are sitting in the middle of the Western Conference instead of running away with it. Still, former WNBA star Candace Parker thinks the bigger issue is familiarity.
“What Luka is doing, we cannot get bored with that,” Parker said. “If you win MVP, it’s this year.”
