Giannis Antetokounmpo remains one of the most coveted players in the league. And for desperate teams who have the assets to pull off a blockbuster trade, they would line up to offer just about anything to land him.
But that is not the case for one anonymous NBA executive.
The Toronto Raptors have been floated as a potential landing spot for Giannis this trade season. Such a move, however, would likely require parting with young forward Scottie Barnes, who is still just beginning to tap into his ceiling.
According to the anonymous executive, that is a non-starter. He said he would not trade Barnes for Giannis, adding that he is not convinced Giannis will remain the better player over the long term.
“One guy is 31 and he’s going to want that extension and the other is 24 and you have him for four more years after this one. Is Giannis going to be the better player over those years? I don’t know about that.”
