Practice, Pressure, And A Viral Clip: Ja Morant’s Berlin Exchange Becomes The Latest Grizzlies Flashpoint

There are two kinds of NBA practice moments. The first never leaves the gym, two pros barking, a teammate stepping in, a coach waving it off, and the whole thing dissolving into the next drill like it never happened. The second gets filmed from the wrong angle, uploaded with the right caption, and turned into a referendum on a season.

The Memphis Grizzlies’ shootaround in Berlin this week landed squarely in the second category.

A short video from the team’s Berlin stop began circulating online showing Ja Morant in a heated, face-to-face exchange with wing Vince Williams Jr. And in the version of events spreading fastest on social media, often presented as a “transcript” based on lip-reading and audio interpretation, Morant is alleged to have told Williams,

“I don’t f*** with y’all. I’m with whatever.”

When Williams appears to suggest taking the conversation away from the floor:

“Let’s go to the back”,

Morant allegedly fires back:

“You’ve been here for 5 minutes! You’re not like that!”

The clip itself shows the argument, but the exact wording, especially anything presented as a clean quote, has largely been reconstructed through social posts and aggregator write-ups, not from an official team transcript or a verified on-camera mic. Still, the optics are real: Morant animated, Williams engaged, teammates nearby, and the kind of body language that doesn’t need subtitles to tell you the temperature.
