The Milwaukee Bucks are slipping outside the playoff picture, and that alone has reignited speculation about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future. Reports even suggested that Giannis and the organization have discussed a possible exit.
Just in: Giannis Antetokounmpo and his agent Alex Saratsis have started conversations with the Milwaukee Bucks about the two-time NBA MVP’s future – and discussing whether his best fit is staying or elsewhere, sources tell ESPN. Head coach Doc Rivers tried to settle things earlier this week by saying Giannis has never asked out. But with neither Giannis nor the front office offering full clarity, the uncertainty still hangs over Milwaukee. Until something definitive comes out, the question becomes whether staying or leaving makes the most sense for the Bucks superstar.
If the Bucks want to make a real push to keep Giannis, would a move for former MVP James Harden change anything? The Los Angeles Clippers are dealing with their own wave of rumors, and Harden’s name has floated around again as a possible trade piece if Clippers decide it is time to rebuild. Dan Favale also mentioned that possibility in a previous piece.
“Los Angeles Clippers Receive: Kyle Kuzma, Gary Harris, Kevin Porter Jr., 2030 first-round swap (less favorable of Milwaukee and Portland), 2031 first-round pick (lottery protection)
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: James Harden
Harden will beef up the offense both with and without Giannis. His extra ball dominance will require a learning curve, but Antetokounmpo is well-versed serving as the play-finisher in the two-man game.
Relinquishing control of first-round equity will be tough for Milwaukee to stomach even if it’s sure Giannis will stick around into the 2030s. Still, this price amounts to one first-round pick (2031). It’s already given swap rights in 2030 to the Portland Trail Blazers.”
