Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey took a detour from the hardwood to the show floor, running dogs through the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge agility course at the National Dog Show.

The segment aired on NBC, continuing the broadcast tradition that follows the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and showcasing Maxey at the Kennel Club of Philadelphia.

Maxey guided two dogs through a series of obstacles that included tunnels, weave poles, and multiple hurdles, piloting Howie, an 8-year-old border collie, and Spike, a 2-year-old border collie–papillon. After the run, Maxey joked about the effort it took, saying he was out of breath “like I just played a whole quarter,” adding with a grin that he might “stick to staying on the court”.

The appearance fit neatly with Maxey’s off-court life. He’s a noted dog owner, with a Cane Corso named Apollo and two Bernedoodles named Aries and Arrow.
