Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was involved in a heated courtside exchange with a fan during Sunday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, stemming from taunts that referenced WNBA star Angel Reese.
With just under two minutes remaining before halftime, Green was called for a foul while defending Pelicans forward Herb Jones. As players lined up for the free throws, Green walked toward a courtside fan who had been heckling him. The fan, later identified as filmmaker Sam Green, stood and extended his arms as Draymond approached, prompting officials and arena security to intervene before the situation escalated.

After the game, Draymond Green addressed the incident in the locker room.
“He just kept calling me a woman,” Green told reporters. “It was a good joke at first, but you can’t keep calling me a woman. I got four kids, one on the way. You can’t keep calling me a woman.”
He later clarified that the fan was using “a woman’s name,” but stopped short of specifying which name.

Multiple outlets, including ESPN and USA Today, confirmed that the fan was chanting “Angel Reese” at Green. Sam Green, the fan involved, told reporters that he was taunting Draymond for having multiple rebounds but no shot attempts at that point in the game.
“I just kept saying ‘Angel Reese’ every time he grabbed a board,” Sam said. “It was just a joke, man. He was rebounding like crazy but hadn’t taken a shot.”
The comparison appeared to strike a nerve with Draymond, who notably avoided naming Reese directly in his postgame comments. Instead, he referred to the taunt as being called “a woman” or “a woman’s name,” suggesting that the reference bothered him enough to avoid repeating it. Reese, a standout forward for the LSU Tigers and now a rising star in the WNBA, is known for her rebounding prowess, vocal on-court presence and missed shots.
The Warriors went on to defeat the Pelicans 124–106, with Green finishing the night with 7 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.
