Stephen Curry and Victor Wembanyama went band-for-band on Wednesday night, but it was Curry’s season-high 46 points that propelled the Golden State Warriors to a 125–120 road victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
Curry erupted for 46 points, shooting 13-of-25 from the field, including 5-of-16 from three-point range. He added 5 rebounds and 5 assists, with 22 of his points coming in the third quarter, where he went 5-of-7 from the field and 3-of-5 from deep.
This marked Curry’s 43rd career 20-point quarter, the most since play-by-play tracking began in 1997–98, ahead of Kobe Bryant (36) and James Harden (31).
“Steph was in rare form tonight,” said Warriors coach Steve Kerr. “He took over the game when we needed it most.”
Victor Wembanyama continued his MVP-caliber season with 31 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists, recording his fourth career triple-double.
The French phenom and teammate Stephon Castle made franchise history by becoming the first Spurs teammates to record triple-doubles in the same game. Castle finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Golden State improved to 7–6, snapping a three-game skid. San Antonio dropped to 8–3, suffering their first home loss of the season.
