Even after being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, Luka Dončić remains deeply committed to the Dallas community, quietly donating thousands of dollars to support youth sports across the metroplex.

His recent contributions have helped fund equipment, travel, and training camps for dozens of young athletes, reaffirming his lasting bond with the city that launched his NBA career.

In the days leading up to his emotional return to Dallas on April 9, 2025, Dončić made personal donations to at least 12 GoFundMe campaigns supporting youth sports in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. These campaigns included requests for basketball uniforms and gear, soccer team travel expenses, camp registration fees and tournament entry costs.

One notable example was his donation to the Dallas Texans Soccer Club, which helped the team afford travel to the National Cup tournament. Parents and coaches expressed gratitude, calling Dončić’s gesture “unexpected and deeply meaningful.”

Though now wearing purple and gold, Dončić’s actions speak volumes about his enduring connection to Dallas. He played seven seasons with the Mavericks, earning four All-NBA First Team selections and becoming one of the franchise’s most beloved figures.

“Dallas gave me everything,” Dončić said during his April postgame interview. “I’ll always be part of this city, no matter where I play.”

Through the Luka Dončić Foundation Beyond local donations, Dončić recently announced a $5 million commitment to support 77 young athletes worldwide through his Luka Dončić Foundation. The foundation, based in Ljubljana and Los Angeles, focuses on youth development, creative play spaces, wellness programs and community partnerships.

The foundation’s mission is inspired by Dončić’s journey from Slovenia to Dallas and now Los Angeles, aiming to “transform young lives through the power of play”.
