Speaking to reporters at training camp, Seth admitted he actually tried to strike a deal with his brother.
“I tried to buy it from him,” Seth said with a grin. “He said he didn’t need the money. Don’t think the NBA would like it either.”
The comment drew laughs, but it also underscored just how untouchable Steph’s No. 30 has become in Golden State.

Steph has worn the number for all 17 of his NBA seasons, leading the Warriors to four championships, two MVP awards, and revolutionizing the game with his three-point shooting. The jersey has become synonymous with his legacy, and it’s hard to imagine anyone else, family or not, taking it over.
For Seth, the number carries personal meaning as well. He has worn No. 30 at several stops in his career, honoring his father Dell Curry, who also wore the number during his NBA days. But with Steph entrenched in Golden State, Seth will instead don No. 31, a subtle nod that still keeps him close to the family tradition while carving out his own identity.
The playful exchange highlights the unique dynamic of the Curry brothers’ reunion. While Steph remains the face of the franchise, Seth brings his own credentials: over a decade in the league, a career three-point percentage above 43 percent, actually higher than Steph’s, and a reputation as one of the most reliable role players in the NBA.
Warriors fans now get to enjoy a rare sight: two Currys sharing the floor, trading threes, and perhaps even rekindling the “Splash Brothers” magic in a new form. And while Seth may not have landed the number he wanted, the story of him trying to buy it only adds to the charm of this family reunion in the Bay.
