“Clipping” At The Zoo? San Antonio Zoo Launches Parody Investigation Into Kawhi Scandal

The San Antonio Zoo has once again proven it’s not just a haven for wildlife, it’s a masterclass in sports satire. In light of recent allegations that the Los Angeles Clippers may have used a tree-planting company to funnel $28 million to Kawhi Leonard off the books, the Zoo launched its own “investigation” into suspicious tree-related activity on its grounds.

In a parody video posted on social media, the Zoo announced:

“San Antonio Zoo takes our tree planting very seriously. In light of recent news, an immediate investigation was launched on property to determine if any potentially fraudulent activity (aka ‘Clipping’) was occurring on zoo grounds by a previously known ‘actor.’”

The video, dripping with comedic timing and Spurs pride, chronicles zookeepers inspecting trees, interrogating animals, and searching for signs of “Clipping”, a tongue-in-cheek reference to the alleged cap circumvention scandal involving Leonard and a now-defunct company called Aspiration. The video ends with a cheeky disclaimer:

“Any similarities to names or current news stories is strictly coincidental and in parody… oh and GO SPURS GO!”

This isn’t the Zoo’s first jab at Kawhi. Back in 2018, after Leonard’s controversial exit from the Spurs, the Zoo revoked his honorary membership and filmed a jaguar shredding his farewell letter.
