A routine custody handoff turned explosive when social media personality Brittany Renner and her mother engaged in a heated confrontation with NBA star PJ Washington and his wife, Alisah Chanel. The incident, captured on video and widely circulated online, has reignited public scrutiny over the former couple’s turbulent co-parenting relationship.
The footage shows Renner handing over her crying son, PJ Jr., to Washington during a scheduled exchange. Renner, visibly frustrated, accuses Washington of being emotionally absent and inconsistent in his parenting.
“He doesn’t want to go with you,” she says, vowing to record every future handoff where her son reacts this way.

Washington, now with the Dallas Mavericks, pushes back, accusing Renner and her mother of “babying” the child. The argument quickly escalates when Washington hurls a crude insult at Renner’s mother, prompting an equally profane response. The verbal sparring continues as Renner’s mother accuses Washington of lavish spending on his wife while allegedly neglecting his financial responsibilities toward his son.
Washington’s wife, Alisah Chanel, was present during the exchange and briefly involved in the shouting match. At one point, Renner’s mother challenged Chanel to step out of the car and fight, further intensifying the already volatile situation.
Renner and Washington began dating in 2019 and welcomed their son in 2021. Their relationship ended later that year, and since then, their custody arrangements have often played out in the public eye. Washington married Chanel in 2023, and the couple now shares two additional children.
