In his latest YouTube video titled ‘a moment of honesty” NBA forward Michael Porter Jr. opens up with rare vulnerability about his departure from the Denver Nuggets and his hopes for the future. The video, part of his “Curious Mike” vlog series, offers fans a look into the emotional and physical toll of his final season in Denver, and the personal growth that came with it.
Porter Jr. reflects on the challenges he faced during the 2025 playoffs, where he played through a serious shoulder injury.
“I went out there and I tried, but I was playing with one arm,” he says. “My whole shoulder was popped out, torn, I was putting a needle in it every other day.”
Despite the pain, he felt compelled to contribute to the team, even if it meant sacrificing his own health.
This raw admission underscores the emotional weight of his farewell. He expresses regret that his final memories in Denver are tied to playing injured, but also pride in his effort and commitment.
The video also marks a turning point in Porter Jr.’s career. After being traded to the Brooklyn Nets, he acknowledges that his role in Denver had plateaued.
“I do feel like my ceiling in Denver kind of plateaued a little bit,” he admits,
adding that he’s excited to showcase more of his offensive arsenal in Brooklyn.
Porter Jr. is not just documenting a career move; he’s confronting the pain, the politics, and the personal evolution that come with being a professional athlete. His openness invites fans to see him not just as a player, but as a person navigating change.
