As Stephen Curry enters his 17th NBA season, the Golden State Warriors icon remains laser-focused on one goal: winning another championship.

In a recent interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio, the four-time champion made it clear that his motivation to continue playing is rooted entirely in the pursuit of a fifth title.

“I truly believe we can be championship-relevant… We have a team that’s capable of achieving that level again,” Curry said. “Knowing all that we’ve been through over the last thirteen years, and those four trophies over there—to add to that would be amazing. For me, it’s literally the only thing I’m playing for at this point”.

Curry’s statement underscores a shift from personal accolades to legacy-building. At 37, with MVPs, scoring titles, and the all-time three-point record already secured, his drive is no longer about proving himself, it’s about cementing the Warriors’ dynasty and his place in NBA history.

Despite his optimism, the road to another championship won’t be easy. The Warriors are coming off a second-round playoff exit, where Curry was sidelined with a hamstring injury. The team finished 48–34 last season and faces roster uncertainty, including stalled contract talks with rising star Jonathan Kuminga.

The Western Conference is stacked with younger, deeper teams, and Golden State’s core is aging. Yet Curry remains undeterred, believing that experience, chemistry, and leadership can still carry the team to the top.

This season could be Curry’s most defining yet. With his legacy already secure, the fifth ring would elevate him into rarefied air, alongside legends like Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan.
