New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby is known for his quiet demeanor and lockdown defense, but when it comes to his NBA 2K rating, he’s not staying silent. At a recent offseason event in Las Vegas, Anunoby confronted Ronnie Singh, better known as Ronnie 2K, over what he felt was a disrespectfully low rating in the upcoming NBA 2K26 release.
According to Singh, the moment unfolded after dinner at the Wynn Hotel, where Anunoby approached him and “talked [his] ear off for half an hour.” Singh recounted the exchange on The Big Podcast with Shaq, saying,
“Bro, I had somewhere to be, but he was going in. ‘I’m an 87. I should be at least a 92.’”
Anunoby’s frustration stems from his belief that the game undervalues his two-way impact. While his 87 overall rating ranks third on the Knicks behind Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns (both rated 93), Anunoby played a pivotal role in the team’s deep playoff run last season and has earned a reputation as one of the league’s premier wing defenders.
“He argued that we skew offensively a little bit more than defensively,” Singh explained. “I actually don’t agree with that. I think we balanced it really well.”

Despite the disagreement, Singh acknowledged that 87 is a strong rating, especially considering that seven Knicks players are rated 80 or higher in NBA 2K26, which launches September 5.
Ronnie 2K also revealed that players have gone to extreme lengths to boost their ratings, including offering money, shoes, and other perks.
“I’ve been offered some shoes, I’ve been offered a variety of things,” he said. “Here’s the thing: Stop offering me anything. You know how you can get your rating better? Play better.”
