New York Knicks Positioned To Pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo If He Becomes Available?

The trade rumors surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo have been relentless since the Milwaukee Bucks’ postseason exit. Milwaukee’s front office responded by adding Myles Turner, Cole Anthony, and Gary Harris, but it remains to be seen if that’s enough to convince Giannis that a championship is still within reach.

Shams Charania noted that Giannis Antetokounmpo hasn’t made up his mind about whether this Bucks team can still compete for a title. That’s a development teams around the league, like the New York Knicks, are paying close attention to. After a deep playoff run, New York is looking for the next piece to push them over the top.

Per The Athletic:

“It is my understanding that Leon Rose and company have been monitoring Giannis Antetokounmpo’s situation in Milwaukee very closely, even before the offseason started. Many around the league believe the Knicks are interested in star hunting, and while that opportunity hasn’t popped up yet, I certainly believe it’s in the cards if the right situation presents itself.”

With Jalen Brunson leading the way, pairing him with a superstar like Giannis Antetokounmpo could immediately elevate the Knicks into serious title contention. Whether that requires a deal involving OG Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson, or even a scenario with Karl-Anthony Towns, those are questions for another day. What’s clear is the league is waiting and wondering what Giannis will decide.
