Klay Thompson’s offseason has been filled with viral moments, from training clips, to his relationship with Megan Thee Stallion, to music video cameos, but not all attention has been welcome.
While walking alone through New York City earlier this week, the Dallas Mavericks guard was followed by a fan who recorded and trailed him all the way to his hotel, sparking widespread concern about celebrity privacy and personal boundaries.
Thompson, dressed casually and without a security detail, initially acknowledged the fan with a polite nod. The individual expressed admiration for Thompson’s game and optimism about his upcoming season with Dallas. But instead of parting ways after the brief interaction, the fan continued to follow him, filming discreetly from a distance as Thompson walked through parks and city streets.
The video, which quickly circulated online, shows Thompson visibly uncomfortable as he enters his hotel lobby. The fan stops short of entering but continues recording, even commenting on how Thompson’s sunglasses helped him avoid public recognition.
