Al Horford Replacement? Trade Proposal Has Domantas Sabonis Going To Boston

The Boston Celtics have watched the core of their 2024 championship team fall apart this offseason. Jrue Holiday was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, Kristaps Porzingis is now in Atlanta, and Al Horford is expected to leave soon.

Boston made moves to stay flexible by bringing in Anfernee Simons and Georges Niang. Whether they stick around or not, the Celtics still have Derrick White, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum to keep them competitive. But with Horford likely on his way out, the center position remains a question mark.

That concern is exactly what Connor Thoms addressed during a recent Bleacher Report livestream. He floated the idea of the Celtics trading for Sacramento Kings big man Domantas Sabonis as a potential solution.

Celtics receive: Domantas Sabonis

Kings receive: Anfernee Simons, Sam Hauser, Georges Niang, Neemias Queta, two first-round picks

“He’s not really the shooting type of big that Joe Mazzula likes, but I think he’d work really well as this playmaking hub type of big — someone to really orchestrate the offense alongside Derrick White, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum when he comes back.”
