Bronny James is making waves in Las Vegas, not just with his play on the court, but with the quiet poise and gratitude he’s showing off it. After delivering his best performance yet in the 2025 NBA Summer League, the 20-year-old Lakers guard spoke about what it meant to have his family courtside, including his father LeBron James, mother Savannah, and sister Zhuri.

“It means the world,” Bronny said to OpenCourt-Basketball’s Aurelia Rieke after the game. “They’ve been there from my AAU days, so I love having them there to support me and that also gives me a little boost of energy and enthusiasm, so it’s always great to see them there.”

The moment was a full-circle one for the James family. LeBron, seated baseline and visibly engaged throughout the game, watched his son lead the Lakers with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in a 67–58 loss to the Clippers. Bronny shot an efficient 6-of-10 from the field and knocked down three 3-pointers, including a deep step-back that electrified the crow.

Bronny’s performance marked a major leap from last summer, when he struggled to find rhythm and consistency. After spending much of the 2024–25 season developing in the G League with South Bay, where he ran point and gained valuable reps, Bronny returned to Summer League with renewed confidence and composure.

“I’m just getting more comfortable game by game,” he said earlier this week. “It helped that I was in the G League running point guard most of the time. Just getting those reps in is helping.”

That growth was on full display Monday night. Bronny opened the game with a three-pointer and continued to facilitate, defend, and score throughout all four quarters. His ability to read pick-and-rolls, make timely passes, and hit shots in rhythm has Lakers fans, and coaches, taking notice.

While the stats were impressive, it was Bronny’s demeanor that stood out. He played with intensity but never forced the action, and his postgame comments reflected a maturity beyond his years.

With the Lakers’ roster in flux and head coach JJ Redick looking to build a competitive rotation, Bronny’s development could earn him meaningful minutes in the upcoming season. His defense has always been solid, but now his offense is catching up, and his leadership is beginning to shine.

“He came ready,” said Lakers Summer League coach Lindsey Harding. “He had the spark. He did a great job finding players, making reads, and defending. That’s what you want to see.”

Bronny and the Lakers will face the Boston Celtics next on Thursday, July 17, in what could be his final Summer League appearance this year. If his trajectory continues, it won’t be long before he’s making headlines in regular-season action, not just as LeBron’s son, but as a rising talent in his own right.
