Golden State Warriors Eye Seth Curry And Ben Simmons To Bolster Bench Depth

The Golden State Warriors may have had a quiet start to free agency, but behind the scenes, they’re plotting moves that could reshape their second unit. According to multiple reports, including ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel, the Warriors are keeping tabs on veteran guards Seth Curry and Ben Simmons as potential low-cost additions to round out their roster.

Seth Curry, the younger brother of franchise cornerstone Stephen Curry, is coming off a season with the Charlotte Hornets where he shot a blistering 45.6% from three-point range, one of the best marks in the league. Though his minutes were limited, his efficiency and floor-spacing ability make him a natural fit in Steve Kerr’s motion-heavy offense.

Signing Seth would not only provide a reliable shooting threat off the bench but also mark the first time the Curry brothers have played together in the NBA. The sentimental value, combined with strategic upside, makes this potential reunion one of the most intriguing storylines of the offseason.

Ben Simmons, once an All-Star and No. 1 overall pick, has seen his career derailed by injuries and inconsistency. But at 28, he’s reportedly healthy and open to signing a minimum contract for the right opportunity. The Warriors believe they might be that opportunity.

Simmons averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists last season across stints with the Nets and Clippers. While those numbers are far from his peak, his size, defensive versatility, and playmaking could be valuable in Golden State’s system. He could fill a Draymond Green-lite role, facilitating offense and defending multiple positions without being asked to score.

With Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green anchoring the starting lineup, the Warriors are looking to reinforce their bench without exceeding the salary cap. Both Curry and Simmons could be signed on minimum deals, offering high-upside depth without financial strain.

The team is also navigating the restricted free agency of Jonathan Kuminga, whose future may impact other roster decisions. But once that situation is resolved, expect Golden State to move quickly.
