Stephen Curry, the face of the Golden State Warriors and one of the most transformative players in NBA history, is approaching the twilight of his career, but he’s not rushing toward the exit.
In a recent press conference at the American Century Championship golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, the four-time NBA champion addressed questions about retirement with characteristic clarity and calm.
“I don’t know. I’m just taking it two years at a time. That’s what I have left on my contract right now,” Curry said.

At 37 years old, Curry remains one of the league’s most productive players. Last season, he averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.4 three-pointers per game across 70 appearances, earning second-team All-NBA honors. His current contract, which includes a one-year, $62.6 million extension signed last summer, keeps him with the Warriors through the 2026–27 season. By then, Curry will be 39, and still very much in control of his own narrative.
“I hope to be in a situation where, physically, I have the choice and it’s not made for me,” Curry added. “So I’m doing everything I can to stay limber, stay active, and do what I do at a high level”.
The Warriors have built their roster around Curry’s contract window, adding veterans like Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green in hopes of one last championship push. With Curry still anchoring the offense and serving as the emotional heartbeat of the team, Golden State remains in win-now mode.
