Allen Iverson’s ‘82-0 Or Die’ Lineup Leaves Out LeBron James

NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson recently took part in the viral “82-0 or Die” challenge, where participants build an all-time starting five using randomly assigned teams—with the goal of creating a lineup so dominant it could go undefeated. But what caught fans off guard wasn’t just Iverson’s picks—it was who he didn’t pick: LeBron James.

Despite having the option to select LeBron from either his Miami Heat or Los Angeles Lakers stints, Iverson passed. Instead, he built his dream team around other legends:

  • PG: Penny Hardaway (Orlando Magic)
  • SG: Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat)
  • SF: Michael Jordan (Chicago Bulls)
  • PF: Magic Johnson (Los Angeles Lakers)
  • C: Patrick Ewing (New York Knicks)

Iverson’s omission of LeBron raised eyebrows, especially given James’ résumé: four NBA titles, four MVPs, and the league’s all-time scoring record. But Iverson opted for Dwyane Wade at shooting guard and Magic Johnson—a point guard by trade—at power forward, leaving no room for LeBron at either position.

While Iverson’s team may not be the most analytically optimized, it’s undeniably rich in basketball lore. From Jordan’s killer instinct to Magic’s versatility and Ewing’s interior presence, the lineup reflects Iverson’s era and ethos: fearless, flashy, and fiercely competitive.
