Before Game 4 of the first-round playoff series between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat, former teammates Tristan Thompson and Kevin Love shared a touching pregame moment following the passing of Love’s father, Stan Love.

Stan Love, a former NBA player who spent time with the Baltimore Bullets, Los Angeles Lakers, and San Antonio Spurs, passed away at the age of 76. Kevin Love announced the news on social media, sharing a heartfelt tribute to his father, whom he described as his “greatest teacher” and “first hero.” Love had been away from the Heat for personal reasons leading up to the playoffs, but he was in attendance for Game 4 despite his emotional loss.

Thompson and Love, who played together on the Cavaliers from 2014 to 2020 and won an NBA championship in 2016, reunited on the court before tipoff. The two embraced for an extended moment, with Thompson offering words of comfort to his former teammate.
