The frustration among Dallas sports fans reached another boiling point last night at the American Airlines Center (AAC) during a Dallas Stars game. Chants of “Fire Nico” erupted from the crowd, directed at Dallas Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison.
The chants, which began in the second period, quickly gained momentum as more fans joined in. Although the Stars were the team in action, the Mavericks’ recent struggles and the fallout from the Dončić trade have clearly left a lasting impact on the Dallas sports community. Fans expressed their dissatisfaction with Harrison’s management decisions, particularly the trade that sent the beloved superstar to Los Angeles in exchange for Anthony Davis and other assets.

This isn’t the first time fans have voiced their displeasure with Harrison. Similar chants and protests have occurred during Mavericks games at the AAC, with some fans even being escorted out of the arena for violating the NBA’s Code of Conduct. The “Fire Nico” movement has gained traction on social media, with fans organizing protests and calling for changes in the Mavericks’ front office.
The Mavericks’ front office has defended the trade as a strategic move to reshape the team’s future, but the decision has not sat well with a significant portion of the fanbase. The team’s struggles on the court, coupled with Kyrie Irving’s season-ending injury, have only added to the frustration.
