Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler is facing a lawsuit filed by Five Star Marketing and Promotions, Inc., alleging unpaid rent, property damage, and unauthorized modifications to a Miami Beach residence he leased from August 2022 to August 2024.

The lawsuit claims that Butler remained in the property for two months beyond the lease expiration without permission, triggering a clause that doubled his monthly rent to $130,000. Additionally, Butler is accused of causing approximately $125,000 in damages, including mold growth, damaged drywall and flooring, a malfunctioning HVAC system, and an unmaintained pool. The suit also alleges that Butler changed the locks without providing keys to the property owner, thereby denying access for necessary inspections.

In total, Five Star Marketing and Promotions seeks $257,282 in damages, encompassing unpaid rent and costs associated with the alleged property damage. The company asserts it is entitled to apply Butler’s $130,000 security deposit toward this outstanding balance.

This legal action follows Butler’s recent trade to the Golden State Warriors, concluding a tumultuous season with the Miami Heat, during which he requested a trade and faced multiple suspensions.
