Collin Cowherd fell victim to a fake story about Luka Doncic during a recent episode of his FOX Sports show “The Herd.” The incident occurred when Cowherd, while discussing Luka Doncic’s recent performance for the Los Angeles Lakers with guest Rachel Nichols, mentioned a story he had seen about the Dallas Mavericks banning fans from wearing Luka jerseys in their arena.
“I saw a story where [the Dallas Mavericks] won’t let Luka jerseys in the building in Dallas,” Cowherd said during the show.

Unfortunately for Cowherd, the source of this information was a satirical social media account known as NBACentel, which parodies legitimate NBA news aggregator NBACentral.
The fake story, posted by NBACentel, claimed that the Mavericks organization had announced a ban on Luka Doncic jerseys as a way to move forward from him after trading him to the Los Angeles Lakers. The post quickly gained traction, garnering over 22 million impressions and fooling many fans and media personalities, including Cowherd.
