In response to the controversial trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, a passionate Dallas Mavericks fan has taken matters into their own hands by launching a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for billboards targeting Mavs general manager Nico Harrison and the Adelson ownership group.

The campaign aims to display these billboards around the American Airlines Center, sending a strong message to the team’s front office.

The campaign, titled “Dallas Deserves Better: Anti-Nico & Adelson Billboards,” was started by Jacob Posner, a devoted Mavericks fan. Posner expressed his frustration, stating,

“Trading away Luka Magic has left a deep void in the hearts of Dallas fans. By banding together for this billboard campaign, we’re sending a strong, undeniable message to the Mavs’ front office: We refuse to be overlooked, and we deserve better decisions.”

As of Friday morning, the fundraiser has raised over $40,000 toward its target goal of $82,600. The funds will be used exclusively for billboard fees, with any additional money potentially being used to expand the campaign throughout the city.

The trade, which sent Doncic to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick, has been met with significant backlash from the Mavericks’ fan base. Many fans feel that trading away a player of Doncic’s caliber was a mistake and have taken to social media and other platforms to voice their discontent.

The campaign has garnered widespread support from Mavericks fans, who are eager to see their message displayed prominently around the American Airlines Center. Posner has also invited fans to submit creative designs and slogans for the billboards, further engaging the community in the protest.
